I have been reading the different Somali pirates news in the past view days, they have captured 9 ships from the Gulf of adden with in 2 weeks!. to day I learned that a ransom of 2 million have been paid to Somali pirates at Gara’ad, Somalia for the exchange of German Vessel.
The sitiuation is getting dirty, and more Malaysia are preparing to join these sea Thugs. it is really shame and I can’t ignore the effect that these pirates will have in the Somali people.
In my own Opinion, I would suggest that any Ransom should not be paid. because these huge Payments will infact fuel the pirate business and also it will encaurage other malaysia to joing the piracy.
I would also like to see the International Communities full attention on the situation, espcialy U.S and E.U to start cracking down these pirates.

i have a cousin on melati5. for me, it is everyone’s fault because you know there are many ship has been hijacked at the same place…why should we go on the same route…it is so stupid…eventhough the other way around is much longer and takes time it is much safer compare you are being killed by the pirates or being hijacked…the governments have to pay so many money to those pirates because of a shortcut…let me ask all of you who is reading thi comment..which one is much bigger…the amount of money you need to pay the loss to the pirates or the amount of money to go round the other way?..well im not saying the pirating activity is corret…the cocnlusion is it is everyone’s fault….i hope action would be taken because its getting worse and no action is taken…God bless you all…

The Ransom paid to the pirates makes things more complicated, because as far as I know, the pirates re-invest in the Piracy operations and buy new weapons and fast boats. No one has taken any action against the pirates so far.
